West Coast Headquarters

Prioritizing the employee experience

With operations spread across three locations in the San Francisco Bay Area, this leading biopharmaceutical company made the commitment and investment to consolidate into a single facility – streamlining their West Coast presence as well as envisioning an inspiring new workplace experience within a premier life sciences business campus. Occupying 450,000 square feet within two high-rise buildings, the laboratories and workspaces form an integrated environment for research and development across a wide breadth of pharmaceutical candidates.

Design of the interior is centered around support for research teams undertaking the intense work demanded by scientific discovery. Floors are organized to showcase the spectacular surrounding views and admit abundant natural light into all workspaces. Shared amenities provide places for staff to connect during the workday while departmental neighborhoods evoke a sense of community and feature mobile furniture and walls that allow spaces to flex as project initiatives, team members, protocols, and technology shift.

The heart of the building resides on the ground floor forming a central location where people can meet up. It hosts an IT help desk, conference facility, and spacious social hub that connect to a soaring atrium and beyond to the exterior park-like courtyard of the campus, transforming where and how staff can work throughout their day. Punctuated by materials, textures, and colors inspired by nature, the facility and amenity programs support the health and overall well-being of employees, providing the resources and tools to make life and work fulfilling.
