Medical School Building
A medical education destination
Enhancing the University of Georgia's (UGA) brand as a national leader in medical education and research, the new Medical School Building is a destination for faculty and students to gather, collaborate, discover, and innovate. Flad was selected to design the School of Medicine's first building project after the University System of Georgia Board of Regents officially established the independent School of Medicine at UGA in February of 2024.
An extraordinary opportunity for all involved, the new building has the potential to expand the number of medical professionals in Georgia, reducing wait times for medical services and enhancing access to care in rural and underserved communities.
Spaces include biomedical research open wet lab space and associated support rooms. Additional spaces are envisioned to include large- and small-group learning, simulation suites with clinical skills labs, gross anatomy labs, a medical library, student lounge and collaboration spaces, standardized patient rooms, conference spaces, and faculty and administrative offices.
Building upon the remarkable success of the Augusta University/UGA Medical Partnership, UGA is uniquely positioned to address healthcare needs through world-class medical education, biomedical research, and community outreach. The new building serves as a gateway onto the Health Sciences Campus.
