Patient tower expansion

Flad master planned and designed the gracious and inviting Sarasota Memorial Hospital-Venice campus to support significant, expected future growth. The phase-two bed tower addition marks the hospital's first planned expansion, seamlessly integrating into the existing campus and reinforcing Sarasota Memorial Health Care System's (SMH) established brand.

The five-story tower adds 102 acute care inpatient rooms across three floors, a dedicated floor for support services, and an MEP infrastructure floor. Designed to complement the hospital's clean, modern aesthetic, its crisp white exterior and contemporary glass make it a recognizable landmark from the interstate.

Inside, refined finishes reflect the system's high standard of care. Large, strategically placed windows bring in abundant natural light and offer views of the landscaped campus, enhancing the healing environment. This expansion enables SMH to better serve south Sarasota County and support the growing population.
