Patient tower expansion

Master planned and designed by Flad, the gracious and inviting Sarasota Memorial Hospital-Venice campus was designed to accommodate future growth. The phase-two bed tower addition represents the first planned expansion of the hospital campus.

The five-story tower, designed by Flad, will accommodate 68 acute care inpatient rooms across two floors, another patient floor with 34 shelled inpatient rooms, a floor of associated support space, and one floor dedicated to MEP infrastructure.

The expansion will be an extension of the Sarasota Memorial Health Care System brand, seamlessly integrating into the hospital. Similarly, the tower will be crafted to feel as though it was constructed alongside the existing buildings. Regionally recognized for its clean, modern architecture – featuring a crisp white exterior and contemporary glass – Sarasota Memorial's expansion will be easily recognizable from the interstate.

The refined finishes appropriate for the high standard of care for which the system is known will continue into the interior of the tower. Large, strategically located windows will provide generous daylight and views to the landscaped campus to enhance the healing environment. Ultimately, this expansion will allow SMH to better serve south Sarasota County and extend services to a broader population in the growing area.
