KWS SAAT AG
North American Research Center Laboratory Fit-Up
Sustainable seeding for the future
In support of breeding crops that promote sustainable, resource-efficient, and ecologically friendly farming, KWS is expanding its reach into North America with a new research center.
Consisting of a fit-up of existing shell space in a bio-research incubator building, the facility accommodates approximately 40 researchers and staff. Research spaces include a molecular research lab, a transformation lab, climate-controlled growth chambers, and central lab support.
Upholding a corporate commitment to trust, the space is designed to promote transparency through open sight lines among laboratory and office areas and generous access to natural light. Flexibility in the design allows for efficient and rapid workspace reconfiguration in a platform supporting an intensely collaborative work process.
Lead scientists occupy an open workspace with furniture configured in flexible pods. Enclosed adjacent conference rooms are equipped with white boards and monitors for teleconferencing. A multipurpose room for larger meetings includes full audiovisual capability and reconfigurable furniture. Write-up and break areas for lab technicians have both window access and clear views into the open labs.
