General Motors isn't just a car manufacturer. It's an American icon. It is ingenuity and hard work personified. As a corporation, GM has played a major role in the development of our culture by transforming the auto industry and making cars available to people from all walks of life.
To maintain a leadership role in the industry, GM has adapted to changing technologies, consumer expectations, and marketplace conditions. For more than 100 years it has constantly updated and improved its products. Looking ahead to the next century, Flad helped GM renovate two historically significant buildings from the 1950s. Working together, the buildings were transformed into state-of-the-art laboratories for research into the next generation of automotive technologies.
In addition to laboratories for material testing, microscopy, and nanotechnology, the facility includes demonstration and display areas where GM can interact with the general public, placing technology and research on display.
