Madison Workplace Renovation
Balancing workplace functionality and flexibility
Enhancing collaboration and productivity, Flad's office in Madison, WI creates a new, interactive heart in the center of the building. Recognizing different work styles, this design accommodates staff needs and strengthens innovation with increased opportunities for collaboration and impromptu connectivity. Multiple furniture types and arrangements increase flexibility while maintaining a connection to the original design character.
This renovation increases natural light in a centrally located commons area for staff respite, large group meetings, and team-building events. Known as The Commons, the space offers a casual lounge and work area mix. Promoting flexibility and visibility, the open environment offers various seating options, including meeting counters, soft lounge chairs, and sofas. Full height, sliding marker boards adjacent to a large-scale monitor encourage the creation of new ideas.
The new, inviting lobby includes soft spaces and casual, high table meeting areas with a kiosk system allowing visitors to contact staff in the building without entering office areas. Planes of glass create a transparent view of the lobby, opening the space and allowing for more natural light. A two-story, white glass wall and ceiling folded plane features a backlit Flad logo, enhancing firm brand throughout the space.
Break spaces and a café area, as well as seating facing the prairie, encourage staff respite and casual interaction. Meeting rooms, open lounge areas, and team spaces are all equipped with upgraded video and audio technology, capable of supporting small internal meetings, team and department meetings, and firmwide presentations.
