Life science industry leaders recently gathered to celebrate the grand opening of The Hangar on the Vantage campus in South San Francisco. Designed by Flad with 40,000 square feet of world-class amenity space, The Hangar offers a full-service rooftop bar, an eclectic food hall featuring local chefs, conferencing space, a fitness center, and more.
With a modern design inspired by airplane hangars, the upscale amenities center honors the area's industrial past and its role as the birthplace of biotech. The double-height lobby provides a large public gathering and conference space that is protected from the elements and connected to the outdoor plaza. It is highlighted by a monumental stair, which serves as an auditorium for all-hands meetings and other events.
Vantage also includes one five-story and one six-story building, together totaling 346,000 square feet. The two structures are connected by an outdoor space for meetings, recreation, and events as well as a food truck plaza. The buildings' stacked, rotated levels with reflective glazing are inspired by crystalline structures and provide a striking view from the street level.
