Sarasota Memorial Hospital-Venice has earned an AIA Florida Design Citation Award of Excellence in the New Work category, adding to the hospital's long list of honors. The AIA Florida Design & Honor Awards program encourages excellence in architecture, elevates the public awareness of good design and recognizes those architects whose work enriches Florida's communities and architecture at large.
Flad will be honored at the 2024 Design & Honor Awards Reception on July 20 in Palm Beach. In addition, SMH-Venice and the other award-winning projects will be featured in the Fall issue of Florida/Caribbean Architect magazine.
Offering a full slate of medical and surgical care for a growing community population, SMH-Venice was thoughtfully designed to create an enhanced patient experience, considering the entirety of the patient journey. The hospital has garnered a variety of regional, national, and international honors since opening in November 2021. The five-story facility was master planned to expand to more than double its size, and its first expansion, a five-story bed tower, welcomed the first patients earlier this spring.
