JFL Hospital Honored in Healthcare Design Showcase
Governor Juan F. Luis (JFL) Hospital and Medical Center has been named a finalist in the Healthcare Design (HCD) Showcase. The annual awards program honors the very best design and architecture in the healthcare industry, as decided by a jury of healthcare architects, interior designers, owners, and consultants.
On the island of St. Croix in the U.S. Virgin Islands, the new 482,000-square-foot JFL will replace the previous hospital of the same name, which was severely damaged by Hurricanes Irma and Maria. The facility will provide comprehensive health services to the island's 40,000 residents and the population throughout the larger territory.
With a focus on resilience and flexibility, the hospital is designed to safeguard against Category 5 hurricanes, tsunamis, earthquakes, and other disasters. The new hospital is estimated to be completed in late 2029.
HCD Showcase finalists will be featured in the August edition of the magazine and honored at an awards ceremony in October.
