Charles Harwood Medical Center Project Moves Forward with Demolition of Existing Campus

The U.S. Virgin Islands Department of Health has begun the demolition of the main campus of the Charles Harwood Medical Center (CHMC) Complex. Flad is designing a new state-of-the-art public health and wellness facility that will replace the original complex, which was severely damaged by Hurricanes Irma and Maria.

The new 180,000-square-foot facility will be a centralized hub that the community can rely on during moments of vulnerability, while the structure itself will demonstrate strength and resilience for generations to come.

Demolition work is expected to be completed by October 2024 at which point construction on the new facility will begin.
