Flad Announces Four New Associate Principals
As part of an ongoing commitment to professional growth and to ensure exceptional leadership in the planning, design, and execution of projects, Flad is proud to announce four team members have been promoted to associate principal. These leaders have embodied Flad's commitment to an integrated, multidisciplinary practice that provides innovative solutions to our clients.
Kara Freihoefer PhD, NCIDQ, EDAC, LEED ID+C
As director of healthcare research, Kara has been instrumental in leading and advancing strategic research initiatives and predesign services within Flad's healthcare practice. With over 14 years of experience serving as a healthcare planner, Kara brings the Six Sigma critical-to-quality (CTQ) approach to Flad's designs to validate with research. In addition to publishing and presenting research findings, she also serves as a juror on several national industry award panels.
Zac Heaps AIA, LEED AP BD+C, WELL AP
Zac is a project designer whose experience includes numerous planning studies and building projects for the national laboratories. Zac has also contributed to business development for a range of S&T, academic, and industrial projects. He advocates for sustainability innovation in design and champions the integration of sustainability throughout the process. Zac is also an active contributor in Flad's internal design forum and DEI initiatives.
Ross Pinski ASLA, LEED AP
As a director of landscape architecture, Ross has led a wide variety of academic, healthcare, and corporate science projects involving site design, land-use planning, master planning, and urban design. He has demonstrated the ability to navigate complex site master planning and design efforts on some of our most significant academic, national lab, and corporate S&T projects. Ross co-manages Flad's landscape architecture group, which promotes strategic, interdisciplinary solutions and cross-office collaboration.
Anne Thompson RA, LEED AP
Anne is a project architect who leads team coordination and document development efforts for several complex research and academic facilities, including the UC San Diego Multidisciplinary Life Sciences Building, San Jose State University Interdisciplinary Science Building, and the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute Research and Development Building. Anne is also active in leading technical skills and documentation information sharing in the San Francisco office as well as business development efforts.
